Fifteen years of RVAsec

That’s a strange thing to see.

When RVAsec started, the goal was simple: bring the security community from around the world together in Richmond. Not a giant, faceless conference. Not a sales floor pretending to be educational. A real community event—built by people who care about security, for people who care about security.

Somehow, year by year, talk by talk, conversation by conversation, it grew into something much bigger than we ever imagined. And now we’re here. RVAsec 15.

A milestone year deserves a milestone logo. This year’s raven is raising a glass, a nod to the DiCaprio “cheers” meme. It’s fun, a little ridiculous, and completely intentional.

Because after 15 years, it feels right to raise a glass:

To the speakers who shared their knowledge.
To the sponsors who believed in and supported  this community.
To the volunteers who made it all happen.
To the attendees who showed up, year after year.
To Richmond.
To the friendships, careers, ideas, and opportunities that started here.

And yes, to RVAsec for making it this far.

Fifteen Years Isn’t an Accident

Conferences don’t last 15 years by chance.

It takes trust, consistency, and a community willing to show up—whether that means speaking, sponsoring, volunteering, or simply being in the room.

RVAsec has never just been about the talks. It’s the energy. The hallway conversations. The first-time attendee who realizes they’ve found their people. The student who gets inspired. The practitioner who hears exactly what they need.

That’s what has made RVAsec work. And for 15 years, this community has kept showing up.

A Turning Point

We want to be transparent: this is the final year of our current contract with the Downtown Richmond Marriott. What comes next isn’t fully defined yet.

That doesn’t mean RVAsec is going away. But it does mean we’re at a real decision point.  Events are harder than ever to run. Costs are up. Logistics are complex. Community support matters more than ever. What happens after RVAsec 15 will depend, in large part, on this year.

And that makes it feel different. Bigger. More meaningful.

Make This Year Count

If RVAsec has ever meant something to you, this is the year to show up.

Bring someone new.
Send your team.
Invite your clients.

Let’s pack the place.

Because this year isn’t just another conference, it’s a celebration. Fifteen years of community. Fifteen years of people giving their time, energy, and ideas.

That’s not something we take for granted. The raven is raising a glass for a reason.

It’s a thank you.
It’s a celebration.
And it’s a reminder:

Moments like this only happen if people show up.

Join Us

RVAsec 15 is our chance to celebrate what we’ve built and help shape what comes next. We don’t know exactly what the future holds.

But we do know this: this year matters.

Let’s make it loud.
Let’s make it packed.
Let’s make it unforgettable.

Raise a glass with us.
