Mandy Logan (@5urv1va7rix) To Keynote RVAsec 2019!

We are pleased to announce that Mandy Logan will be keynoting RVAsec 2019!

 

Following a series of 5 strokes and major head injuries, Mandy is no longer in the construction engineering industry. She used her life hacking prowess from a non-traditional background (such as skipping five years of K-12 schooling while working on a ranch and then graduating from a giant, traditional high school in 2.5 years with a 4.2 GPA) to re-establish neuro control using her electrical system, her tongue against her teeth, and perseverance. Now, as a happy dyslexic autie (autistic person) she is pursuing all things InfoSec with an emphasis on Incident Response, Neuro Integration, Artificial General Intelligence, and Community, pressing forth to improve the lives of InfoSec professionals and long term ethical neuro tech for those unable to express themselves to their own satisfaction. She enjoys art, travel, naps, speaking, continuing and broadening her own recovery, and good people. Mandy always hopes to be half the person her service dog, Trevor, is (he helped her relearn to walk!).

 

Andy Ellis (@csoandy) To Keynote RVAsec 2019!

We are pleased to announce that Andy Ellis, CSO of Akamai will be keynoting RVAsec 2019!

Andy Ellis is Akamai’s Chief Security Officer, and his mission is “making the Internet suck less.” Governing cybersecurity, compliance, and safety for Akamai’s planetary-scale cloud platform since 2000, he has also designed and brought to market Akamai’s TLS acceleration network, its DDoS defense offerings, and several of the core technologies behind its security solutions. Andy has also guided Akamai’s IT transformation from a flat password-based network to a distributed, zero-trust enterprise based on strong authentication.

Andy is a graduate of MIT with a degree in computer science, and has served as an officer in the United States Air Force with the 609th Information Warfare Squadron and the Electronic Systems Center.

Also active in Internet policy and governance circles, Andy has supported past and present Akamai CEOs in roles on the NIAC and NSTAC, as well as serving on the FCC’s Communications Security, Reliability, and Interoperability Council. He is an affiliate of Harvard’s Berkman Klein Center, and a guest lecturer in executive education at MIT and the Harvard Kennedy School. He is a frequent speaker on topics of Internet security, anthropocentric risk management, and security governance; and occasionally blogs at www.csoandy.com. He can be found on Twitter as @csoandy, where he discusses security, wine, American football, and hairstyling.

Andy is also an Advisor to YL Ventures’ YLV3 Fund, Uptycs, and Vulcan Cyber.

Andy has received The Spirit of Disneyland Award, The Wine Spectator’s Award of Excellence (as The Arlington Inn), the US Air Force Commendation Medal, and the CSO Compass Award.

Joshua Corman is a Founder of I am The Cavalry (dot org) and CSO for PTC. Corman previously served as Director of the Cyber Statecraft Initiative for the Atlantic Council, CTO for Sonatype, Director of Security Intelligence for Akamai, and in senior research & strategy roles for The 451 Group and IBM Internet Security Systems. He co-founded RuggedSoftware and IamTheCavalry to encourage new security approaches in response to the world’s increasing dependence on digital infrastructure. Josh’s unique approach to security in the context of human factors, adversary motivations and social impact has helped position him as one of the most trusted names in security. He also serves as an adjunct faculty for Carnegie Mellon’s Heinz College and on the Congressional Task Force for Healthcare Industry Cybersecurity.

We are pleased to announce that Katie Moussouris, CEO of, Luta Security will be keynoting RVAsec 2018!

Luta Security is a company offering unparalleled expertise to create robust vulnerability coordination programs. Luta Security specializes in governments and multi-party supply chain vulnerability coordination.

Ms. Moussouris recently testified as an expert on bug bounties & the labor market for security research for the US Senate, and has also been called upon for European Parliament hearings on dual-use technology. She was later invited by the US State Department to help renegotiate the Wassenaar Arrangement, which she successfully helped change the export control language to include technical exemptions for vulnerability disclosure and incident response.

She is a coauthor of an economic research paper on the labor market for bugs, published as a book chapter by MIT Press in 2017, and presented on the first system dynamics model of the vulnerability economy & exploit market in 2015, as part of her academic work as a visiting scholar at MIT Sloan School.

She has over 20 years of pioneering leadership in information security, as a former penetration tester at @stake , to creating Microsoft Vulnerability Research, the first MS Bug bounties, and advising the US Department of Defense for years resulting in the launch of the Hack-the-Pentagon program. She is also an author and co-editor of standards ISO 29147 Vulnerability disclosure and ISO 30111 Vulnerability handling processes.
